The South West Herts Narrowboat Project exists to provide a narrowboat facility for hire at attractive rates by all community and youth groups.

Dick's Folly is the name of our 12 berth narrowboat, and it is moored at our base in Old Mill Road, Hunton Bridge, Kings Langley, Herts WD4 8QT. Beside the jetty, the River Gade joins the Grand Union Canal at lock 73. This community narrowboat was completely refitted during the winter of 2010/11 as well as some major engineering work and is available for youth and community groups to hire, and can be used for any period from an evening, half a day to a two week cruise. Have you thought about using a boat as accommodation while visiting London: moor at Little Venice, Regents Park, Paddington, etc. and tour all the best sites. Go to our Users page for more information.

The Project's new narrowboat, which can accommodate a wheelchair user, is called Pickle's Folly in memory of Graham Pickett whose bequest has made this boat possible. She finished her maiden voyage to the Project's base from Starline Marine's base in Stourport-on-Severn in March 2013. Go to this page for information about the trip and the photos.

Our volunteers are the lifeblood of the Project. If you would like a new hobby, why not join us. New user groups are also welcome [use the links below for more information].

The boat is available to community and youth groups.
