Progress on the boats and base has been steady over the summer months. Updated hand painted signage has been installed at the base, while the fresh look of Dicks Folly and Pickles Folly has received compliments along the canal.
Trust chair, Chris, said: “We’ve generally had very good feedback about how the boats look – both from people hiring the boats and those on the canal itself. We’ve had a few people asking who did the paint job, so that is encouraging.”

A mishap during the painting of a red mooring bollard saw the storeroom temporarily resemble a crime scene, although the floor was quickly restored.
The toilet block is close to completion with Mick lining the room with contiboard. After the electrics were shifted, the toilet and sink have been reinstalled and are operational. Nigel installed new front decks on both boats using anti-slip plywood.
Looking back at the year to date, Chris shared that the number of bookings and training sessions has increased on 2025 – with some boat bookings made for next year already.
