In July, further work was done on the new training cabin. The plumbing was completed, the carpet tiles laid and all of the cabinets were installed. Work was done on the shutters to make them more secure and compact when open.
Further coats of paint were added to the toilet shed, resulting in a more sedate shade than the previous autumnal hue.
The roof of Dick’s Folly was jet-washed and rust-proofed ahead of repainting.
South West Herts Narrowboat Trust chair, Chris, acknowledged the dedicated work of volunteer, Ian, in organising the workshop over the past month.
“He has been doing a grand job tidying and releasing space,” Chris said

Bird of the month: the cormorant
Volunteer, Roger, describes this month’s avian canal visitor as “a bird of two worlds.”
“Although cormorants are commonly found along coastlines, many have moved inland in recent decades. They are now seen around rivers, lakes and even here on the canal. This move has brought them into conflict with anglers, but it also highlights their adaptability to different habitats,” he said.
