As a living memorial to Peter Lincoln, South West Herts Narrowboat Trust has established a Training Bursary with the aim to support and promote narrowboating with young youth leaders.
Peter was a passionate believer in the power of boating as part of an active adventurous youth programme. This Bursary looks to continue Peter's work promoting narrowboating across youth organisations.
The Trust is looking to honour this by covering the training costs of up to 3 youth leaders between the ages of 18 and 25 per calendar year so they can complete their RYA Inland Waterways Helmsman Certificate. In becoming a qualified helm on the Trust's narrowboats they can support their own organisation and the Trust by being an ambassador for canal boating in their organisation.
Youth leaders under 25 years of age at the point of application can apply by completing the application form and obtaining a reference from a senior leader/commissioner in their youth organisation.
Qualifying organisations:
The South West Herts Narrowboat Trust exists to provide a narrowboat for community and youth groups. Formerly The South West Herts Youth and Community Narrowboat Project, and registered as an independent UK Charity, it became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in 2018.
